A young boy just six fought with a ferocious dog to save her sister even as the dog chewed off a part of his cheeks, he continued standing between the two ultimately running off to save his and his sister’s life.
He went beyond thinking about his own safety, has risen above individual interest, that too at such a tender age.
A dog nursed an abandoned tiger cub to save her life. The incidents have been recorded in Russia, India and China and I am sure a lot of other places too would have witnessed similar happenings.
Animals going beyond their natural instincts to do something out of the ordinary.
A laborer earning just Rs 200 per month donated Rs 66000 worth land to a school so they could construct a shed and school kids doesn’t have to sit in the blazing sun to eat their meal.
Thinking beyond one’s own comfort to make world a slightly better place.
Jhuka Bauri, though struggling to make ends meet, looked beyond his own plights for the greater good of the society.
Most of the people remember Martin Luther King Jr. as the pivotal figure in civil rights movement which took the country by storm, however not many know who triggered it.
The moment which led to mass boycott of buses segregating colored and white passengers was when Rosa Parks refused leave her seat preferring rather, to get arrested. A huge public outcry followed as buses were boycotted en masse by the colored population, who formed the major chunk of passengers.
Rosa Parks fought for her right, her freedom to choose what she thought was right.
Ahmed Ali a rickshaw puller from Assam, used his entire savings to open schools in his locality. A total of 10 schools are now open with help from the local villagers as well.
No school carries his name barring one, that too after too much cajoling from the villagers and he now plan to open a junior college, so students in the village could continue their studies even after high school.
His name also featured in Mann ki Baat, the monthly radio address by PM Modi on All India Radio.
A vision far beyond what people could conjure up even after years of academic rigor.
And who can forget the valor of Param Vir Chakra awardee Vikram Batra who laid down his life while fighting to regain what was ours from the enemies.
‘Yeh dil maange more’ is forever associated with him as it’s impossible to forget his outstanding feat of courage and bravery in the most hostile circumstances.
All these people have so much to teach us, we can learn from their sacrifices, their determination to bring about a positive change, their perseverance to pursue their vision and their undying faith in achieving what they set out to achieve for themselves and the society.
We all can contribute in our own way to make India and this world a better place to live, following what we think and feel is right. There is no dearth of motivation, umpteen people did and achieved what looked unachievable at first.
So, let’s take that first step. Wishing everyone a very Happy and fruitful Independence Day!!
